About this role

The Transcarent Performance Analytics group empowers the company to make data-driven decisions and provides advanced analytics, benchmarking, and savings modeling to both our members and employer health plan sponsors. We are seeking a talented and motivated actuary with a business-minded focus to support analysis and benchmarking of value-based bundles and savings analyses.

What you’ll do

The Sr. Manager will work closely with Provider Contracting and external consultants, in addition to others on the Performance Analytics team. You will empower our Provider Contracting team with real-world data analytics to enable a best-in-class network of providers. You will also develop analysis to demonstrate this value to our self-funded plan sponsors. A successful candidate will be a collaborative partner, thought leader, passionate about changing US healthcare market dynamics, intellectually curious about novel use cases for healthcare data, and an expert on healthcare unit cost, trend, and benchmarking for financial program impact. You will have a meaningful role with high visibility with leaders across the healthcare industry and the opportunity to shape the future of how value-based and accountable “health and care” experiences are offered.

More specifically, you will:

  • Enhance and execute benchmarking, unit cost savings, and trend analyses for value-based care programs.
  • Execute or lead the execution of client-specific program impact and savings analytics at scale to meet business needs and present findings to current clients and their experts.
  • Provide thought leadership across the company and externally on analytical applications and translations of Transcarent’s value to the market.
  • Master and continuously improve our understanding of savings drivers and value quantification methods for holding our partners accountable for exceptional health and financial outcomes leveraging healthcare claims data, industry benchmarks, digital engagement data, third-party point solution member utilization data, operational data, healthcare provider quality data, market benchmarking data, social determinants of health data, and any other interesting data we can acquire!
  • Drive alignment across the company on our value proposition methodology and the impact that has on internal KPIs and client reporting.
  • Understand how to identify, acquire, and utilize data sources to answer specific business questions.
  • Grow channel relationships and credibility with industry experts, consultant actuaries, and client teams.
  • Approach complex problems with creativity and critical thinking, asking the right questions to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.

What we’re looking for

  • Deep expertise with healthcare data including claims, eligibility, utilization, and cost data.
  • Ability to present analytical findings to employer clients and industry experts.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience querying databases.
  • Stakeholder management, sometimes with competing priorities and hard deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to know when and how to balance the tradeoff between perfect solutions and ‘good enough’ solutions.
  • Intrinsic interest in continuous learning and teaching colleagues.
  • Experience with value-based care.
  • Experience in a Health Tech startup, or other fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to apply actuarial concepts and calculations to diverse situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through ambiguous situations, asking the right questions to clarify and drive solutions.

Education/Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • ASA or FSA preferred.
  • 8+ years of work experience in various actuarial/analytical roles.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently to produce results.

Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don’t apply unless they meet 100% of the job criteria. While we have worked to consolidate the minimum qualifications for each role, we aren’t looking for someone who checks each box on a page; we’re looking for active learners and people who care about disrupting the current health and care with their unique experiences.
