We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer to help us create the future of lunar surface mobility in a fast-paced startup environment. As a Test Engineer you will play a crucial role in the testing and evaluation of vehicle systems at Lunar Outpost and specialized test facilities. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to test systems that optimize performance in spaceflight environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and protocols for aerospace systems (hardware, software, or integrated systems)
  • Design and set up test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Execute functional, environmental, structural, and performance tests
  • Analyze test data and generate clear, actionable reports
  • Identify root causes of failures and support troubleshooting and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve product performance
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., FAA, NASA, MIL-STD, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254)
  • Support qualification, certification, and verification activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation for testing processes and results
  • Assist with continuous improvement of test methods, tools, and lab capabilities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in test engineering or systems engineering (aerospace or highly regulated industry preferred)
  • Experience with test instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals (mechanics, electronics, or systems)
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, Excel)
  • Experience with test documentation and reporting
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related discipline
  • NASA or spaceflight program experience
  • Experience with environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC)
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as AS9100, DO-160, MIL-STD
  • Hands-on experience with automation and scripting for test systems
  • Knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or system integration testing
  • Experience supporting certification programs (FAA/EASA)

Compensation & Benefits: Compensation level and base salary are competitively structured and thoughtfully determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, and the scope of the role.
