Project Engineer to contribute to our mission in a dynamic startup environment.
As a Mobility Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, logistics, coordination, and budgets for testing, prototypes, procurement, flight hardware, etc. You will exercise ownership of mechanical and electrical hardware and subsystems, manage customer and partner interactions, and ensure successful delivery of vehicle solutions critical to mission success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exercise ownership of parts and assemblies for flight hardware, prototypes, and GSE (Ground Support Equipment).
- Participate in selection, integration, and delivery of materials, hardware, actuators, sensors, harnesses, converters etc.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to define fabrication methods, lead times, and ensure delivered hardware meets design and quality requirements.
- Inspect and inventory received hardware of various types, verifying against design specifications and quality standards.
- Participate in planning and documentation of prototyping efforts and test events.
- Document work clearly, adequately justifying design decisions and supporting generation of design/analysis data products for internal and external reviews and presentations.
- Participate in internal and external meetings to ensure clear communication is maintained and project goals are attained.
- Collaborate with team members across disciplines to ensure multi-faceted needs of all stakeholders are met.
- Participate in planning/scheduling efforts and meetings, and delegate and direct tasking of team members to accomplish broader programmatic goals.
- Provide estimates of cost, schedule, and risk from programmatic and interdisciplinary technical standpoints.
- Contribute to development of internal design, manufacturing, test processes, and documentation processes to improve efficiency and quality.
- Actively support manufacturing and procurement during project execution, including troubleshooting integration issues and developing process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline
- 3+ Years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with challenging deadlines and multidisciplinary inputs
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts to achieve project deliverables
- Experience working with high voltage, high power DC power distribution and battery systems
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Trello, etc.
- Demonstrated experience interacting and coordinating with key internal and external stakeholders
- Strong demonstrated experience documenting designs, analysis, tests, presentations, meetings, etc.
- Familiarity with standard aerospace review process – MCR, PDR, CDR, etc.
- Self-motivated, focused, and driven to meet critical deadlines
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management certification (PMP or CAPM)
- Proficiency in using SolidWorks for design of parts, assemblies, drawings, etc.
- Proficiency in EPS modeling, design, and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Altium Designer, Ansys Electrical, PSpice, ETAP).
- Proficiency in use of trade studies as a decision-making aid
- Prior experience in aerospace startup environment
- Demonstrated experience managing hardware development and maturation for spaceflight
- Demonstrated leadership in engineering environment
- Familiarity with vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum testing campaigns
Any offer of employment for this position is conditional upon Lunar Outpost receiving the LTVS SubCLIN 1C Award from NASA. If the contract is not awarded to Lunar Outpost, this offer will be considered null and void, without further obligation to Lunar Outpost.
Compensation & Benefits: Compensation level and base salary are competitively structured and thoughtfully determined based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, and the scope of the role.
