We are currently seeking a Payloads Lead to contribute to our mission in a dynamic startup environment. As a Payloads Team Lead you will be responsible for managing the programmatic and technical aspects of the Payloads Subsystem to ensure the Payloads Team meets the rigorous program timeline without compromising quality. This role requires strong strategic planning, strong attention to detail, responsibility, and ownership in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize and delegate tasks to team members in alignment with evolving program priorities and technical goals.
- Facilitate communication with internal and external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to support hardware selection and integration.
- Develop and maintain the Payloads Subsystem scope, schedule, budget, and technical baseline within program constraints.
- Document work clearly, adequately justifying design decisions and supporting generation of design/analysis data products for internal and external reviews and presentations.
- Coordinate technical work across mechanical, electrical, thermal, safety, and systems engineering disciplines.
- Own the integration and validation of the Payloads subsystem through design reviews, ground testing, and flight readiness milestones.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in aerospace systems development, including 3+ years in technical leadership.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Ensure project documentation is accurate and in compliance with industry standards, regulations, and requirements and manage risk mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated experience developing and integrating complex, Class A Programs.
- Able to simultaneously govern multiple, disparate tasks.
- Self-motivated, focused, and driven to meet critical deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or management discipline
- Experience with space robotics and/or payload development
- Experience presenting technical content to interdisciplinary audiences in a design review format (SRR, PDR, CDR)
- Familiarization with NASA Standards
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment with a startup or commercial aerospace culture.
- Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering principles and processes such as requirements development and management, interfaces, verification activities, and risk mitigation strategies.
Any offer of employment for this position is conditional upon Lunar Outpost receiving the LTVS Phase II contract from NASA. If the contract is not awarded to Lunar Outpost, this offer will be considered null and void, without further obligation to Lunar Outpost.
