Green Summit is expanding its residential building-performance and operations in California and is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Designee (QAD) to lead quality assurance, technical oversight, rater support, and program compliance. This is a senior technical role for someone who understands standards, can mentor field professionals, and is comfortable making sound compliance decisions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a Green Summit RESNET Quality Assurance Designee and perform required QA in accordance with current RESNET standards, policies, and Green Summit procedures.
- Conduct file, model, and field QA reviews for HERS Raters and Rating Field Inspectors, including diagnostic testing, documentation, photos, energy models, and rating files.
- Complete or oversee required field QA observations and technical verification activities throughout California.
- Review rater performance for consistency and compliance; document deficiencies, corrective actions, follow-up requirements, and closure of QA findings.
- Provide technical coaching and support to raters and affiliates on RESNET standards, diagnostic testing, energy modeling, documentation, and field procedures.
- Support onboarding of new raters, field inspectors, and affiliated rating companies in coordination with Green Summit leadership.
- Maintain accurate QA records and support rating registration, provider documentation, audits, complaints, appeals, and corrective-action processes.
- Stay current on RESNET standards, ENERGY STAR® Residential New Construction requirements, California building-performance requirements, and other relevant programs.
- Help improve QA procedures, training materials, checklists, and consistency across the provider network, and represent Green Summit professionally with builders, raters, clients, and industry partners.
Required Qualifications
- Current RESNET Quality Assurance Designee (QAD) credential in good standing.
- Strong working knowledge of the RESNET Mortgage Industry National HERS Standards and provider quality assurance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with HERS Ratings, residential energy modeling, field inspections, blower door testing, duct leakage testing, and related diagnostics.
- Ability to objectively review technical files and field work, identify compliance issues, and document clear corrective actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to coach raters and explain technical requirements professionally.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple QA reviews, deadlines, field visits, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to travel within California as required; valid driver’s license and ability to access active residential construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as a QAD for a RESNET-accredited Rating Provider or in a senior QA role within a rating organization.
- ENERGY STAR® Single-Family New Homes and/or Multifamily New Construction credentials or substantial program experience.
- Experience with Ekotrope, EnergyGauge, or other RESNET-accredited rating software.
- Knowledge of California residential energy-efficiency programs, building codes, utility programs, or state-specific HERS processes.
- Additional credentials such as Rating Field Inspector, ICC, NGBS Green Verifier, DOE Zero Energy Ready Home, Standard 310, or commercial air-leakage testing credentials.
- Experience developing or delivering technical training for raters, inspectors, builders, or contractors.
Who You Are
- You care deeply about consistency, compliance, and doing the work correctly - not simply checking a box.
- You can be firm on standards while remaining practical, professional, and constructive with raters and clients.
- You work well independently in the field and remotely while staying responsive to a distributed technical team.
- You enjoy teaching and mentoring and want to help build a high-performing provider network.
