ESS is looking for a motivated and versatile Test Engineer to join our team. The Test Engineer will be focused on projects at the product level, and will be involved in a wide spectrum of testing and validation activities including future product development, current product optimization, reliability, durability, troubleshooting, and root cause and corrective action analysis.

What you’ll do at ESS.

  • Design tests to assess battery and system performance, reliability, and robustness consistent with product specifications.
  • Configure test infrastructure (instrumentation, controls platform, data acquisition, diagnostic equipment, safety checks, etc.).
  • Conduct component-level, subsystem-level, and integrated system testing.
  • Compile, analyze, and report test data accurately and timely.
  • Create and/or run models to predict component performances and facilitate design improvements.
  • Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in FMEA and HAZOP, and develop risk mitigation plans.

What you bring to the table.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS or MS in ChE, Electrochemistry, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must understand principles of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience interacting with lab and Engineering operations.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task several projects and prioritize workload to meet business specific deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a small, dynamic team responsible for product development.

We’d love to see:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principals in a fuel cell or battery industry.
