The Plant Engineer will assist with scheduling, layout, permitting, and supporting project management in the execution of projects. Under the Facilities Director, the Plant Engineer will perform tasks related to the analysis of construction materials and methods, conduct facilities design, develop plans and specifications, assist in procurement of equipment, participate in contract negotiations, define acceptance criteria, manage contractors and construction projects, assist in CMMS development and deployment.

What you will do at ESS.

  • Maintain office records of maps, plans, boundary descriptions, road and address data, and related documents.
  • Prepare or check legal descriptions, right-of-way maps, encroachments, records of survey maps, parcel maps, subdivision maps, improvement plans, specifications, and other engineering documents for conformance to County and City standards.
  • Complete Federal, State, and local reports required for construction projects; obtain samples and conducts tests of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, sand, and base rock to ensure that they meet required specifications.
  • Obtain permits and approvals required from JHA and government agencies
  • Organize and maintain computerized and manual files and records as required by JHA and government agencies.
  • This person will partner with IE Department to do all facility layout planning, permitting, environmental compliance, design, development and maintain manufacturing routes to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and space.
  • Meet and consult with engineers, contractors, and others on difficult construction matters.

What you bring to the table.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in ME, EE, Construction Management, or another relevant technical field.
  • Four years of technical experience in a construction or manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, change orders, improvement plans, permitting requirements, and construction specifications.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience performing drafting work and assisting in the preparation of designs, plans, and reports.
  • Ability to collect and analyze field data and prepare accurate and detailed reports and records.
  • Experience inspecting construction projects and enforce compliance with plans, specifications, and laws.
  • Experience with HVAC, fire suppression systems, building control systems and energy management.
  • Experience with chemical processing and handling equipment.

We would love to see:

  • P.E. in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
  • C.E.M.
  • Two years in a leadership role or leading a team.
  • Capital project management experience > $5M.
  • Continuous Improvement Certification: LEAN, 6Φ.
