ESS is looking for a motivated and hard-working Electrical/Electronics Engineer for our R&D group, responsible for hardware development test and reliability analysis for our line of iron flow battery products. The candidate will work with our team of technicians and engineers to develop and execute reliability R&D testing.

What you’ll do at ESS

  • Delegate responsibilities and manage schedules for a team of electronic technicians.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship for your team of engineering technicians.
  • Support the design, build and assembly of custom test fixtures for battery, electronics, and thermal/mechanical testing.
  • Create and maintain documentation packages for all ESS custom test fixtures.
  • Create, assemble and setup electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical test equipment, wiring harness, and fixtures coupled to power supplies, loads, and data acquisition equipment and other instrumentation.
  • Provide regular updates to the engineering team members and management, and proactively drive issues to resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to best test lab practices.
  • Assist with lab development & expansion initiatives.
  • Continuously audit lab and testing activities for adequate safety and hazard protection.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to maintain lab equipment usability and uptime.

What you bring to the table

Minimum requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working with common R&D test engineering hardware in product testing, in a laboratory, and mass product development or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to work independently under high pressure and comfortable with working in a multifaceted hands-on environment.
  • Knowledge in use of standard electronics lab tools including AC/DC meters, Oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of metrology and analytical tools, hand, and power tools and HV lab equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A demonstrated track record of building or testing complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to independently work efficiently and safely.
