The Role We Want You For

This position is in the Technical Assurance Group within Clayco. This department is a specialized assembly of professionals focusing on the design and construction verification of our buildings, specifically the architectural and engineering components. We are involved in projects from early concept to post-construction seasonal testing. Our department specializes in being intimately involved throughout the life of the project. Since we are specialized we focus on having routine training whether it be in-house on how we perform our work or with external for industry standards.

The Commissioning Manager will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning activities and processes for the assigned projects. This would include managing the schedule, creation of the project specific pre-functional test forms, creation of the functional test scripts, and creation / finalizing the commissioning plan.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Review project documentation, including plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans and documentation, including schedules.
  • Responsible for commissioning activities on project site.
  • Commissioning Leader on the project, chair meetings coordinate commissioning activities.
  • Mentor and coach junior level staff on the commissioning process.
  • Manage commissioning schedule and coordinate support needed from Field Superintendents, QA/QC staff, commissioning Engineers.
  • Coordinate with Operations Team and Project Management team on schedule, budget, training, and issues that arise.
  • Verification of pre-commissioning and start-up activities / documentation to confirm project is ready for commissioning activities.
  • Audit commissioning paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities and required team/vendor required onsite days.
  • Provide updates and reports on any commissioning issues in a timely manner to all necessary parties.
  • Prepare for transition to client after final inspections and commissioning processes are complete.
  • Manage Observations/Issue log, update and track through closure.
  • Responsible for integrated system testing and compilation of results.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 6-15 years of experience in construction, commissioning, start-up, and operations on projects.
  • Commissioning certification credentials is a plus.
  • Building Automation Systems (Controls) experience a plus.
  • Proficient in creating, reviewing, and presenting reports regarding commissioning activities.
