The Role We Want You For

The Senior Project Engineer will provide high level support to the project staff to ensure quality and timely execution of design-build projects from design to completion. These phases include: Scheduling, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, preparation of subcontracts, the handling of owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closeout. You may run smaller projects on your own, mentor Project Engineers, Summer Construction Interns, and take on the additional responsibilities to become a Project Manager.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Ensure quality and timely execution of design/build projects including scheduling, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, preparation of subcontracts, handling owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closeout.
  • Work with project team and preconstruction services to develop Project Chart of Accounts.
  • Coordinate with Project Superintendent to develop project site logistics plans.
  • Assist in the management of subcontractors.
  • Oversee submittal, change order, and pay request processes.
  • Generate project costs and Job Cost Report.
  • Analyze and forecast quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
  • Report and track equipment needs.
  • Assist preconstruction services in bidding projects.
  • Implement safety, EEO and Affirmative Action programs.
  • Participate in project quality process.
  • Based on the project needs, may supervise and mentor Project Engineers.

Requirements

  • Requires a Master's degree (Civil Engineering or Construction Management), or foreign degree equivalent; and two years of relevant experience; or in the alternative, a Bachelor's degree (Civil Engineering or Construction Management), or foreign degree equivalent; and three years of relevant experience.
  • If qualifying with a Master’s degree and 2 years of experience, must have:
    • 2 years of experience with scheduling;
    • 2 years of experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors or self-perform work;
    • 2 years of experience with Project Engineering or Field Supervision on projects of at least 5 million dollars; and
    • 2 years of experience with schedule, run and document coordination meetings with Subcontractors, Owners and Designers.
  • If qualifying with a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience, must have:
    • 3 years of experience scheduling;
    • 3 years of experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors or self-perform work;
    • 3 years of experience Project Engineering or Field Supervision on projects of at least 5 million dollars; and
    • 3 years of experience with schedule, run and document coordination meetings with Subcontractors, Owners and Designers.
  • Position requires relocation to various unanticipated worksites within the continental U.S.
  • In addition, requires domestic travel up to 30% of the work schedule, which will include travel and relocation to various unanticipated worksites within the continental U.S.
