The Role We Want You For

As the Senior Commissioning Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing all commissioning activities on-site. Your leadership will ensure that every project is completed efficiently, effectively, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role demands extreme ownership and a proactive approach to managing complex commissioning processes.

The Specifics of the Role

• Develop and Implement Commissioning Plans: Create detailed commissioning plans, estimates, and schedules, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date. Engage with the owner early in the project for the development of systems and plant start up. Partner with process engineering in the development of plant turnover systems. Conduct Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) to further define commissioning plans.
• Oversee Daily Activities: Manage daily commissioning tasks on-site, ensuring timely and efficient completion of all activities.
• Coordinate with Teams: Collaborate with the Operations Team and Project Management to address schedule, budget, training, and any emerging issues.
• Inspect and Test Systems: Conduct thorough inspections and tests of equipment and systems to ensure compliance with safety policies and project requirements.
• Manage Deliveries: Coordinate equipment and material deliveries with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project schedules.
• Ensure Quality and Timeliness: Perform commissioning activities to meet project delivery schedules, integrating third-party vendors and equipment suppliers effectively.
• Maintain Safety Standards: Uphold the highest safety standards throughout all commissioning processes.
• Provide Leadership: Lead and mentor the commissioning team, ensuring cohesive and effective execution of all tasks.
• Conduct Pre-Commissioning Inspections: Perform pre-commissioning and start-up inspections to confirm project readiness.
• Report Issues: Provide timely updates and reports on commissioning issues to all relevant parties.
• Project Completion Activities: Defines the split of responsibilities between Clayco, CSS, Project Management, and Client.
• Prepare for Client Transition: Prepare turnover packages and support the transition to the client after final inspections and commissioning are complete.
• System Testing: Conduct integrated system testing and compile results to ensure system functionality and performance.
• Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 20+ years of experience in construction, commissioning, start-up, and operations on large-scale projects.
• Certifications: ANSI CX certification is a plus.
• Specialized Experience: Experience in data center commissioning and Building Automation Systems (Controls) is highly desirable.
• Skills: Proficient in creating, reviewing, and presenting reports related to commissioning activities. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing commissioning plans for large-scale construction projects.
