The Role We Want You For
The Process Mechanical Engineer III will scope out projects, establish a design basis, create process flow diagrams (PFD’s), generate material balances, create piping and instrumentation diagrams, specify process mechanical equipment, instrumentation and assist other discipline leads in successful implementation of the process design.
Projects will consist of distribution, industrial manufacturing, food and beverage, or other industrial process markets for existing building improvements and new construction.
The Specifics of the Role
- Provide / lead engineering design in accordance with applicable industry codes and standards for all phases of the process and utility engineering work.
- Manage PFD’s, P&ID’s, process utility engineering, thermal properties, and associated cGMP and FDA regulations and standards.
- Deliver documentation offering a critical analysis and suggestions.
- Create and/or review Equipment Lists, Line and Valve Lists, Tie-In Lists to existing piping and/or equipment, etc.
- Support the creation of trade scope of work documents for pipe fitters and millwrights.
- Work with our Design and Integration department in support of equipment and piping layouts to ensure maintenance and accessibility needs are met as well as ensuring piping drawings match P&IDs generated in the process department.
- Lead technical review of project technical requirements to define work plan.
- Develop mass balances, process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) for assigned projects and provides guidance and input for similar technical documents provided by Design and Project Engineers.
- Determine detailed equipment requirements based on the process design and prepares technical data sheets for Specifications for all process and utility equipment, and/or provides review and input for the requirements.
- Respond to Contractor inquiries and provide site support for equipment installation and start-up and commissioning efforts.
- Submit a scope of work for each project that includes budgetary numbers and the goal of each project.
- Oversight of engineering implementation through all design phases.
- Ability to travel and participate in requested Client/Project meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited university or college.
- 5+ years’ process mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience working on large capital projects for clients in various industries.
- Knowledge of pipe and manual valve specification updating as well as experience creating pipe material schedules for projects with multiple types of piping systems and connections.
- PE License required.
- Experience in pipe stress analysis preferred.
- Knowledgeable with computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Operations, process start-up, or construction experience is preferred.
- The ability to communicate and deliver in a fast-paced environment is a must.
