The Role We Want You For:

The Senior Preconstruction Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the bidding of construction projects by preparing conceptual and hard dollar estimates, proposals for new projects, and soliciting of subcontractor bids. They will be responsible for reviewing and verifying accuracy and completeness of all construction project documentation received and perform quantity take-offs, constructability reviews, and value engineering analysis for all assigned construction projects.

The Specifics of the Role:

• Prepare accurate proposals for all business units, including commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential.
• Perform quantity take-offs for specific divisions and scopes of work.
• Manage subcontractor solicitation process.
• Build and maintain subcontractor relationships.
• Prepare bid evaluation sheets.
• Review project schedules and assist in preparing general conditions.
• Assist with final assembly of estimate for presentation to owner.
• Assure clean handoff of estimate, bid information, drawings, and specifications to Project Management.
• Assist Project Managers in negotiating contracts and change orders.
• Maintain master subcontractor and vendor lists.
• Maintain and develop historical data for unit prices.
  

Requirements:

• Requires Bachelors (Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field), or foreign degree equivalent.
• 3 years of prior relevant work experience.
• 2 years of experience estimating and project management.
• 2 years of experience interpreting technical drawings and scope of work.
• 2 years of experience constructability review of technical documents including drawings and specifications.
• 2 years of experience with online storage and file sharing software (BOX, OneDrive and DropBOX).
• Employer will accept part- and full-time equivalent experience.
• Position allows for telecommuting one day per week within a reasonable commuting distance of the reporting office in Phoenix, AZ.
• Requires international and domestic travel up to 5% of work schedule.
