The Role We Want You For

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring best in class performance & availability for Clayco’s business capabilities and growth through IT Service Management. The Senior Network Engineer ensures the stability and integrity of infrastructure elements efficiently and reliably to enable building and deployment of business IT solutions. This is achieved by proactive planning, preventative maintenance and developing infrastructure systems across the organization and cloud services. In addition, the Senior Network Engineer participates in installing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all infrastructure hardware and software solutions. The incumbent also analyzes and resolves infrastructure hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, ensures production readiness of our IT network solutions and provides training to Service Desk first responders.

This role will provide project design and implementation, as well as provide an escalation point for resolving support issues. The primary focus of this position is to be engaged with deploying projects around: Network design complex L2/L3 switching/routing, cloud network services, perimeter NFGW firewall deployments, Site-to-Site VPN, SD-WAN architecture and deployment, micro-segmentation and network access control, wireless networking design and deployment, full site network assessments.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Provide availability management by ensuring end to end optimal performance, capacity, and availability of the IT network landscape.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to existing architecture.
  • Diagnoses and correlates complex network problems, identifies root causes, and develops remediation strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfers and mentorship to peers as required.
  • Create and maintain technical support playbooks and SOPs.
  • Tier 3 engineering escalation point of contact.
  • Develop and manage internal relationships with leadership teams, business managers, IT, and business units as well as external relationships with IT vendors and industry peers.
  • Utilize enterprise and open-source tools to monitor critical business infrastructure components to perform detailed performance analysis, proactive tuning and alerting for end-to-end business critical workflows.
  • Work closely with senior IT management and internal/external customers to deliver best-in-class IT operations and support, including definition/ongoing reviews of SLA/OLAs
  • Manage in-house and 3rd-party resources to ensure the reliability, integrity, and security of all physical and virtual infrastructure components.
  • Coordinate regular evaluation and maintenance of IT disaster recovery protocols against policy-driven RTO and RPO service levels, including formal testing of established protocols, in collaboration with IT and business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, adopt and operationalize new technologies.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to existing and next generation architecture.
  • Collaborate with the engineering teams members to identify performance tuning opportunities.
  • Develop and manage internal relationships with leadership teams, business managers, IT, and business units as well as external relationships with IT vendors and industry peers.
  • Maintain architectural and operational support documentation, including policies and procedures. Creates diagrams, including infrastructure system designs.
  • Complete capacity planning activities, including monitoring, and tracking capacity metrics.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate manual system tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Information Systems preferred, but not required.
  • 7+ years’ experience in designing, configuring, and managing complex network infrastructure is required.
  • Must have experience in designing & implementing Complex network infrastructure using Cisco technologies. Cisco Networking certification such as CCNA, CCNP or CCDA, CCDP are required. Good to have experience in other OEM vendors like HPE-Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet etc.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing Network Security using PaloAlto Firewall keeping the ZTNA (Zero Trust network Architecture in focus). PaloAlto Certification PCNSE is required. Experience in other firewalls like FortiGate, ASA, Juniper or Checkpoint is good to have.
  • Expertise in cloud networking such as Azure ExpressRoute, VNET Peering, Virtual WAN, AWS Direct Connect, VPC, Transit Gateway etc. Cloud Solution Architecture Certification is good to have but Administrator level certification is a must.
  • Expert knowledge in designing SD-WAN solutions using Cisco Meraki, FortiGate, PaloAlto, SilverPeak or any others is required.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing wireless architecture using Cisco Meraki or any other OEM vendor with latest technology like Wi-FI6E or Wi-Fi7 with 80.2.1X authentication.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) frameworks
  • Experience working with and configuring Splunk, ServiceNow, SolarWinds, and/or ITSM tools desired.
  • Great teamwork, analytical, and problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Communicate with multiple vendors across multiple baselines both hardware and software.
  • Integrate and test infrastructure systems on multiple platforms across multiple baselines.
  • Research methods to automate processes to improve efficiency.
  • Ability to adjust to a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to bridge silos and bring different teams together while working towards a common goal.
  • Ability to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple complex projects at different phases in a self-directed manner.
  • Proven ability to “delight” clients through excellent customer service
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking with natural curiosity to distill detailed functional requirements for technology solutions based on input from business users.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to translate technical or abstract concepts into a narrative that is intuitive to clients.
