The Role We Want You For

As a Code Expert/Research Analysis Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards across our projects. Your expertise in code interpretation, research analysis, and regulatory compliance will be crucial in providing technical guidance, reviewing designs, and coordinating with project teams to ensure adherence to applicable codes and regulations. Your exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders will contribute to the overall success of our projects.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for building codes, regulations, and industry standards across various jurisdictions.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards to determine their applicability and implications on project designs and construction.
  • Interpret and communicate complex code requirements and regulatory provisions to project teams, architects, engineers, and stakeholders, ensuring a comprehensive understanding and compliance.
  • Review architectural and engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during the design development phase, offering recommendations and solutions to ensure compliance and resolve potential code-related issues.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop strategies and approaches for code compliance, addressing challenges and facilitating necessary modifications to designs.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, building officials, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure smooth approval processes and resolve any code-related conflicts or issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive code compliance reviews at various stages of the project, including conceptual design, design development, construction documents, and construction phases.
  • Develop and deliver code-related training and educational programs to internal teams, promoting awareness and understanding of code requirements and best practices.
  • Stay updated on current building codes, regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies, and provide recommendations for incorporating them into projects.
  • Participate in code development committees, industry associations, and professional networks to stay informed and contribute to code development processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in code interpretation, research analysis, and regulatory compliance within the construction or architecture industry.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., International Building Codes, NFPA codes, ADA regulations).
  • Proficiency in conducting code research, interpretation, and analysis to identify and apply relevant requirements to project designs.
  • Excellent understanding of construction practices, architectural and engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify code compliance issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex code requirements to diverse stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision to ensure accurate code compliance.
  • Familiarity with code compliance software tools and resources.
  • Professional certifications or licensure related to code interpretation and compliance (e.g., Certified Building Official, Certified Code Specialist) are preferred.
  • Experience working with building officials, AHJs, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to stay updated on evolving codes and regulations and attend relevant training and professional development opportunities.
