Accelsius
Director, Systems Engineer
Interested in getting in at the ground floor of a new, disruptive company attacking an important multi-billion-dollar problem? Businesses and consumers continue to demand increasing data services at an exponential rate -- streaming, deep learning, analytics, loT connectivity, and more. What this means is higher performing CPUs, components, servers, and ultimately Data and Edge computing centers, all generating excessive heat that is increasingly difficult to manage with traditional cooling systems. Accelsius is developing revolutionary direct-to-chip, 2-Phase cooling technologies that empower and enable Server OEMs, Data Centers, Edge Computing Operators, and 5G Edge deployments to meet performance, sustainability, scale, and cost goals while serving this high-growth market for data services.
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with a strong electrical engineering foundation and proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams. This role will focus on the design and delivery of 2-phase direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems for high-performance computing applications. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with the ability to coordinate electrical, mechanical, thermal, and firmware engineering efforts, ensuring successful project execution from concept through production. This position will report directly to the VP of Strategic Engineering.
Role Responsibilities:
• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects focused on advanced 2-phase direct-to-chip cooling technologies.
• Coordinate and integrate work between electrical, mechanical, thermal, and firmware engineering teams.
• Drive architecture and system-level design decisions to meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
• Own delivery of complex hardware systems from concept through production release.
• Define scope, establish timelines, track milestones, and ensure technical deliverables are met.
• Oversee defect tracking, root cause analysis, and resolution with the engineering team.
• Act as the central point of technical communication between disciplines.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure design-to-production readiness.
• Provide regular updates to the VP of Strategic Engineering and company leadership on project status, risks, and mitigations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree or additional mechanical/thermal coursework preferred).
• 7+ years engineering experience, including at least 3 years in technical leadership roles managing multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience taking complex electromechanical products from concept to market.
• Prior work in thermal management systems, liquid cooling, or refrigeration technologies strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical, thermal, mechanical, and firmware integration.
• Familiarity with 2-phase cooling principles, refrigerants, and heat exchanger technologies a plus.
• Skilled in defect debugging, system validation, and design reviews.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Attributes
• Direct experience in the design of 2-phase cooling or other advanced thermal management solutions.
• Understanding of safety, reliability, and environmental considerations in refrigerant-based systems.
• Proven ability to foster collaboration and resolve cross-disciplinary challenges.
